Jane Hartland, counsellor at Compassionate Space Counselling
A calm, grounded space to breathe, reflect, and feel heard.

About me

Warm, person-centred counselling grounded in compassion.

I work from a person-centred foundation, offering a thoughtful and respectful space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life. My approach is based on listening carefully, working collaboratively, and supporting you without judgement or pressure.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have been counselling for more than five years, including three years of voluntary work with charities such as Evolving Minds. I have also trained with Place2Be, supporting young people aged 11 to 18, and trauma is a particular area of experience in my work.

Outside the therapy room, I am family-orientated and value spending time with my children and grandchildren. That grounded, human quality carries into the way I work: offering a steady space where difficult experiences can be explored with care rather than rushed or pushed.

About this website

This site is designed, built and looked after by Leodis Digital, a small studio in Leeds. It is deliberately quick and plain: no tracking beyond anonymous visitor counts, no chat widgets, nothing that follows you around afterwards. People often read a counselling website late at night, on a phone, when they are not feeling their best — the site is built for that.

If you would like to know how it was put together, there is a write-up of the work, including the part where the first recommendation was to spend money on professional directories rather than on the website.
